Call Out Meeting: Thursday, February 20, 2020 @ 4:00 pm in the LGI Room
Eligible Students: Any ZMS boy enrolled in 6th, 7th or 8th grade may try out for the golf team.
Team: ZMS Boys Golf is a cut sport; each year 10 players make the team. The remaining players are eligible for the Developmental Golf Team(s).
Tryouts: Team tryouts will occur in mid-March at either the Zionsville Golf Course or Zionsville Practice Center. Tryouts are contingent upon both golf facility availability and weather conditions.
Tryout are based on the player’s attitude, playing ability and knowledge of the rules and etiquette of golf. Either cumulative scores for 9-hole stroke play rounds or skills evaluations are the basis for team selection. In recent years 25-40 boys have attended golf team tryouts; sign-ups for tryouts were required through Sign-Up Genius.
Practice: Team practices are scheduled for 4:30 to 6:00 pm at either Zionsville Practice Center or Zionsville Golf Course. Practices will occur Monday through Thursday throughout the season.
Matches: Zionsville Golf Course is the home course for ZMS; home matches will begin at approximately 4:30 pm. Team members are expected to the arrive at the golf course 30-minutes prior to the start of the match. The matches typically last 2-3 hours.
For away matches, the team will leave immediately after school. Transportation is provided for these matches. A few of the matches are played over 1-hour from ZMS; the coaches will alter matches in order to ensure students arrive home at an appropriate time.
For each match, every effort is made to take all team members. For home matches every ZMS golfer will compete. The Zionsville Invitational and NSC Conference Finals permit only 5 players from each school to compete.

Fees: ZMS pays for all green fees and range balls.
All golfers are required to pay the program support fee of $125 for the Varsity Team and $25 for the Developmental Team.
Each season the team orders apparel (shirts, hats, etc.) - parents are responsible for this cost. Typical costs range from $60 to $120; depending on items ordered. ZMS provides each player with a golf bag to use for the season.
Meals/Snacks: For road matches, the team will organize a schedule of meals/snacks.
Miscellaneous Items: Team members are required to wear appropriate golf attire for practices, matches and other team functions. Each team member must have their own golf clubs.
It is recommended (but not required) that each player utilize a push-cart for on course practices and team matches.
